New Shoes and Footbag Break-In Help!

Post by Jordan »

ok... so ive had my (Facile) Fearless 55 bag for about 2 weeks, and ive expected it to break-in and be very stallible, but it isnt... :( I have been washing it after every session, and kicking it a lot, also ive been hand breaking it in, in my spare time.

any help?

also... ive ordered a pair of White/Navy Adidas Mesh Rod Lavers, and they should be comming in the mail tomorrow... :D

any suggestions on the best way to customize them? if so, send me links or explain... cause i really dont wana waste $45, if you know what I mean :?

as you can see, I have removed the first eyelet on both sides. I have also taken a razor blade and removed the outer layer of fabric to increase flexibility, sensitivity, and grippiness (all of these have been MARGINALLY increased, which is to say, this mod hardly makes difference, and I recommend you be careful if you're going to try it at all so you don't put a hole in your shoe).

The only other difference between these and a stock laver is the lacing. The exactly lacing for this style of modding doesn't matter exactly, as long as it pulls what's left of the walls way back, so they just function as a back stop, not a side wall.

as for breaking in that abshire, LISTEN TO ME!

Stop breaking it in so hard OR YOU ARE GOING TO RUIN IT!

Everyone, his point of reference for what is a nice stally bag is a Mr Sandman. Just be aware of that as you're giving him advice.

I've played with plenty of fearless 55s. it's not going to be as stally as Mr for a LONG time, and when it IS as stally as a Mr, it will probably be past its' prime.

It will benefit you a lot more to use it the way it is, not to smash it until it's as soft as a Mr Sandman.

It will be a lot more usable once you've got your lavers, you will see. be patient and use it as it is. Sounds like you've done enough extra break-in. Your feet will do the rest. I promise.

Bags break-in no matter what you do, but it's best to make it a priority to break them in only through light kicking/freestyle sessions. Don't overwash your bags. I say... the best time to wash a bag is after 3 sessions or so, when the fabric absorbs a lot of dirt or grime. If your bag comes into contact with a lot of sweat or water from a session, wash it immediately.

Don't stomp/grind your Fearless 55, nor should you do high kicks 2.5 times the height of your self. Try not to do as many flyers as well. Bag care is the next step to bag longevity. :)
