Why does the term Zooming exist

I agree with Tom. I say "zooming" a lot.
Not to describe a trick, but more to say something along the lines of, "I want to do lots of Zooming this session!" It makes complete sense. Zooming is super styley, and I'm glad it has a name. I've always been with Matt against trick names because the majority of them are unneccessary, but Zooming has been around for as long as I have been playing, so why hash over it now? I'm also down with what Nate said about linguistics.

Yeah, English is a very fluid language, and I think that's a lot of fun. Footbag is also a very young sport, so neologisms and shifting definitions are bound to occur. I remember when the term "illusion" was suggested to replace "reverse mirage" and I thought it was the dumbest thing ever. Now it seems natural. Same with alpine and zooming. I agree with Erik that "zooming" is good shorthand for a concept, and his example felt very natural to me. Saying: "I'm going to do lots of zooming today" makes sense and sounds good in a way that "I'm going to spin out of osis a lot today" does not.

The Zoom set is an ancient freestyle concept that has been around longer than half the people on Modified have been alive. I first saw the "Father of Freestyle" Jack Schoolcraft do zooming sets in the 80's (usually to a spinning lap catch or something). Sorry, but Sam didnt name this set (we love you anyway Sam).
