Ya, I bought it yesterday. Played it last night and it's awesome so far. I'm only halfway through the tribal stage though, so I'm sure it's only going to get better. The game feels so epic when you're playing it.

Got mine on Thursday, and as a consequence had a very sleepless weekend.
I can see how lots of people would consider it a mediocre, monotonous game, since it does suffer from a surprising lack of gaming content (even the space-stage missions become repetitive almost instantly).
However, since I derive great pleasure from the endless amount of user generated creatures that inhabit the game and love making my own, I see myself going back to it almost daily in the foreseeable future.

To sum it up, I consider it a blend between a Sim and a Game that is not very strong on either departments but manages to mash them up to make for an entertaining product.

Anyone wants to share their user name on Spore?

Ya, the best description is it's not a game, it's a toy.

If you go into it expecting it to provide you awesome gameplay, you're going to be disappointed.

But if you go into it expecting to just play (in a sense making your own gameplay) it's a blasty blast.

Oh, and my username is RippedWarrior.

I've been following spore since it was announced years ago. I torrented a week before it was released here in the U.S. and it is a lot of fun. It's disappointing that Will Wright decided to simplify the game to give it mass appeal, but I can understand. Fuck EA's DRM, though. I didn't buy the game because it's such a hassle, and I'm sure it only led to increased piracy. Luckily there is a now a class action lawsuit against EA http://games.slashdot.org/games/08/09/24/1939256.shtml
