Played a little today, mostly just drilling drifters, while watching Apocalypse Now. I am not good at drifters, they hurt my hip, and cant seem to find an easy form, however, I can hit them most of the time. I have most trouble with pdx and any dex infront of them, like pixie or atomic. Any pointers on how I should position my waist? Next session i will drill drifters back and forth and drifter  pdx drifter rpt.

Well i rested the injury out a bit and bought some insoles from my shoes and havent had the same pain since.

This week has been quite busy for me, two tests already in the semester and valentines day coming up. I asked some girl i met at a party a few weeks ago that ive been hanging out with. Since i work with parking and transportation at my school i put a sign on her truck asking her to be my valentine then told her she was parked in a maintenance spot and might get a ticket to get her to check her truck. She caught on quick, shes a smart hot little betty.

Shred since last session has been par, my stepping is getting better and better.

some highlights from today:
pixie dlo  pixie dlo my first 3dex to 3dex
pixie opp illusion  pixie ss illusion rpt.
dimwalk pdx dlo rpt
some eggbeaters here and there, my illusions are good, but eggbeaters are damn hard
legbeater  ripwalk  blur rpt.
buncha other stuff cant remember

*Edit*
2nd session today, had manna giving me a couple drills over facebook.
smear>magellan>plo rpt. x2
30 butters, did 32+ string

Had to dig 3 pages to find my blog, I figured since I have been focusing so much on footbag lately, why not keep my blog live. So to do so, i will highlight what I have done since Green Cup, followed by a write up of Green Cup, as far as I can remember.

Evan and I have been playing a ton lately, my leg has only had 2 days of rest since Green Cup, and shin splints is taking its toll. I feel like it is slowing me down currently, although at the same time I feel like I should and CAN be improving quickly. I cant pick out too much from our sessions except mobius, and blur > tapdown rpt.

Today we met up at Lauren Baum's moms house for some shred because he is in town. Evan picked up James Dean from Australia, so it was an exciting session. Evan was playing incredibly well as usual, and James Dean is pretty good as well. The weather in Vegas today made the shred perfect. The only flaw was the neighborhood gang of about 15 kids under the age of 6 zooming by every few seconds on scooters, tricycles, and bikes; however it was fun to witness two overly dramatic crashes on the bikes, which I couldn't help but find funny. I had one real good run starting with atom smasher x 4 into a bunch of shuffle and then spinning and gyro stuff to catch my breath. After that Evan and I grubbed on some In n Out.

I am already pretty psyched out for U.S. Open, although, my legs need some much needed rest which I doubt they will get.

Green Cup write up coming some time in the near future when Im bored.

Jevan Gaterbo session today. (Jeff and Evan) We played in his room, where he layed down this puzzle piece foam mats today, and they were awesome for my shins, although some spots kept coming up so it was difficult to play on at times.

Today I tried to take a more creative approach, which led to me trying tricks that I had never even attempted really, and hitting them in runs, or atleast getting real close.

hit Haze
close to Grifter
nuclear Tap

Bunch of other stuff I cant remember, I should build a shred kit with a notebook and pen.

I am so stoked for US open!

I feel like I need to spice up my blog a little more with little stories from the day, or something random. I think I'll try something new like random facts followed by my session highlights :D.

Random Fact #1
: A crocodile's tongue is attached to the roof of its mouth? It cannot move. It cannot chew but its Digestive juices are so strong that it can digest a steel
nail, Glass pieces, etc

I have hardly been able to play lately. First I got some pretty bad shin splints so I saved myself from playing for a few days. Came back and my ankle started to hurt very badly, I think just from over working it. So I iced it up and stayed off for 3 days. Got one day of play in with Evan, where I played horribly, then the next day caught a bad cold, which is just getting over now. I am playing at the tail end of the cold and my chest is killing me. I want to be warm for USO, but I feel like that's not going to happen. :(

Random Fact: If you yelled for 8 years, 7 months and 6 days, you would have produced enough sound energy to heat one cup of coffee.

Played with Evan today, and had one of the best sessions I've had in a while, if not one of my best ever. Dont remember any highlights, I didnt keep a pen and paper to record them, but everything just seemed so easy and clean.

I can't wait till friday. We arrive at 9:20am, who else will be in Vancouver, who else will be there on friday?

Jeff O - late US open write up

Post by JeffOverbo »

So I procrastinated a bit on a write up, and for that reason it will probably not be too in depth.

I woke up on July 10th at 4AM, after only 2 hours of sleep, too stoked for what was to come. At 4:45 after a good wake up shower, my little sister picked me up to drive me to the airport, and pick Evan up along the way. Although I only got 2 hours of sleep I was wide awake at the airport as Evan and I joked around all the way to the Portland Airport.

Our roommates to be were Ianek, Jay and Reid. I had never met Reid, and only met Ianek for a brief moment at worlds 07'. I must add right now that staying with these 3 guys + Evan couldnt have worked out better. They were all real chill, and shared the same sense of humor. It was as if we had peripherally been good friends for a long while.

The first day we checked into the hotel, went shopping and then met everyone checking in over at Nautilus. There was only one circle going, which I jumped in, for what was to be my best shred while I was there. It turned out after John S's speech welcoming us that only Reid and I were shredding. That guy is a machine, I dont think he sat down the whole time, or denied to kick at all.

After the request competition Jim and Eric Chang had a little grappling match, and I showed them some take downs from standing. Then was talked into a grappling match with Aaron Orton, who has about 50-55 pounds of pure muscle on me. He pushed me against the wall where I slammed into it and said "oh sh*t" then went to throw guard and only got a half guard. I then propped up and worked a sweep and took side control, where he used brute force to put me back over, where I relooped my guard and grapped my ankle to go for rubber guard > omaplata. I manage to get my leg over for the omaplata but I couldnt hold his arm because of the forward momentum. We ended up in another scramble and I took his back for a rear naked choke. We were both a bit torn up, I had a cut on my air, and a nice rugburn on my knee. Which leads to another story I'll put in my next post.

Fast forward a little bit, after a lot of horrible play from my side, came the water temple. This place was incredible! You couldnt get to hot shredding because you could either just jump in the water, or catch the mist from the waterfalls in the background. The day was coming to an end, and some people were already leaving, however the remaining people headed back to the Sole Purpose house, I guess its called, and talked, kicked bare foot and watched the street fighter tourney. Ianek and I were going at the pixie fairie set (wiggle?) for quite some time and both getting it pretty clean into other stuff. I got close to ducking a clean one twice to a butterfly, however my clipper game sucks with no shoes. Then Jay and Ianek helped me a bit with my eggbeaters, which I have been practicing somewhat since. I got pretty trashed that night after a couple Bluemoon's Honeymoons and some Black Butte Porters which are very good and chocolatey.

The next day I woke up with a hangover, said my goodbyes to Ianek Jay and Reid, then went to go nurse my hangover in the hottub. Evan and I then walked around and went shopping because our flight wasnt until 8:30 at night. We kicked a little in the airport, and talked to this real weird girl, whom Evan disappeared with for a little bit, but what happens in Portland airport, i guess stays there, except for me mentioning it in this blog. However, Im pretty sure the only thing they did was go get ice cream. Evan, what a smooth talker.

Well Im kinda having a major brain fart, causing this write up to be quite bland, however, I hope you all enjoy it. :D

So as per usual after tournaments, it is my dire need, and maybe many others trying to progress in the sport to drill like mad.

Since USO I have been changing a few parts to my game. I have been trying to keep my clippers a little further from my body, unless a trick calls for close ones. I found that the main reason I was getting off balance was because of clippers being to close. So far moving them away from my body has helped quite a bit.

Another thing I have been working on, and I am not sure if it is good or not yet, however, Evan told me that I should point my knees a little outward, and bring them a little higher on whirls. This has also helped my balance on pdx whirls quite a bit, so I am hoping this proves to help my game. Anyone have any input?

The other day as I was shredding I managed to illusion off that rugburn I mentioned in my last post, I believe I may have one of the gnarliest lavers.

It bled a surprising amount. Besides what made it on my shoe there are small puddles and drops all over the garage floor. Illusions are my bane.
