When I saw your post on the new page without a picture, I began worrying if something was wrong. I was going to PM you. I suppose with the current situation on here...

Sure, I don't care who checks out my footblog.
For you Pink Floyd fans, I know I'm late to the party, but I'm really enjoying this song:

In non-footbag news (duh) I did my bi-monthly system backup and spent a solid two hours going through pictures I had taken this summer. Man, those were good memories. I'm glad I kept them, and I think I will share some of my favorites with you guys. I might add a blurb underneath each one to give them some context. First up, lets give it up for Ryan Thomas!

Image
If you watched my Riverrock video, you would have recognized the venue. Nick drove me down to Virginia to an awesome footbag jam hosted by Ryan. It was a fantastic atmosphere, and I had a lot of fun shredding, filming, and checking out all of the activities going on around us. While the turnout was sweet and I got to catch up with a few people who hadn't made it down to PSU Jamps, more people need to go to this next year.

Image
This picture is why I'm probably never going to be let onto a net court with a camera in the future. This was Riverrock as well, before we went to the main site. As a side note, Dan Greer (not pictured) is a monster at Net, and can still rip it up in freestyle.

Image
Skipping around, this is a picture from the end of the school year where Ryan M, Joe and I went to Hunter Rocks for some bouldering. My back wasn't feeling too great so I took it easy, but still managed to get to the top of that rock. One day I will come back and spend some quality time climbing. It's such a beautiful area.

Image
A State College sunset at an overlook. When I was taking this, I assumed this was going to be it for me and State College till the school year began. Boy how things change. I love sunsets, and I really want to get back into filming timelapses when I get back to walking on two legs. I've even made a timelapse dolly and custom controller so it would be nice to try those out.

Image
Yes, I'm on a horse. This was one of the bright spots in an otherwise dark time for me. I was able to forget about everything and just concentrate on not falling off. Huge thanks to Kat for letting me ride Sunset and trying to teach me things. I really miss riding, even though I have only done it a few times. Here's hoping that this wasn't the last time I rode a horse.

Image
A week before my injury, I was finally able to convince my family to drive an hour and a half to hike up Glen Onoko Falls. The place used to be a resort serviced by a railroad until a fire destroyed one of the main bridges and the place fell into disrepair during WW1. It is a beautiful bit of nature tucked away in the Lehigh Valley with a really fun trail leading through the glen.

Image
Inside that old tunnel from the previous photo we found a multitude of barn swallows nesting in the crevices. It was pretty dark so it was hard to get a good picture, even with my 1.7 lens. For a moment, I imagined I was Ken Shults - However, I still have a way to go.

Image
The trail leading along the stream was fairly well kept. Despite this, it proved to be quite the challenge as it was often wet and rather steep. A few people die here every year - mostly due to inexperience and poor equipment (shoes). The key thing here was "don't climb up anything you can't go down later".

Image
The reward for making it through the tough parts of the trail was this sweet wall of rock and water. Even though the trail goes up a fairly reasonable slope to the right, I decided that it would be more fun to scale the wall to the left of the waterfall in the photo. I left my bag and camera on the ground, asking one of the people to watch my stuff. My parents had stopped a mile down the trail so they had no idea what i was doing, and that's probably a good thing. Regardless, I made it up the wall without any mishaps, and the view from the top was spectacular. After a short rest, I took the trail back down to my stuff (and ended up slipping a bit and scratching up my shin... serves me right for getting cocky). We hiked for about 12 miles that day and then grabbed some food at a local restaurant in Jim Thorpe.

Anyway, that was a fun post. I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed reliving those memories. Keep kicking footbags. Stay classy Modified.

Nice job on the identification. You're correct. It's hard to photograph birds. This is really good. I have no idea how Kenny gets so close.

Liked the other photos too. Thanks for the good photos to check out right before bed.

As taken from a conversation with Kenny earlier this summer:
Hi Ivan, thx for the note! My current body is a Canon 7d and most of my bird shots are taken with the 300mm f/4L IS
So that is a modest $2500 rig - maybe when I get a job that pays for more than just the rent, food and bills, that might be in the books.

This is the only timelapse I have posted to the internet so far, done by Nathan Pipenberg and I with a GoPro and D7000. Back then, I wasn't so good with pictures, but I still enjoy some of the shots. I also had a few other timelapses that never came together and were deleted to make room for footbag footage. Priorities. Now I have a 1Tb hard drive just for footage so there will be no more of that.

EDIT: Totally forgot about this one.. All GoPro footage in this:

I can do much better now, but I'm still a ways off from the professional time lapses that I use for inspiration:

HAHA, is jack's foot stuck up Scott's ass? Haha.

That time laps you took is amazing dude. Totally inspiring did you use your go pro for everything in the first one? And that last one just straight up blew my mind. I feel like some of it has to be done in after effects or something. Are those slow moving things in the sky satellites or alien space craft?

Oh and thanks for the special hand pic that's a very fine stick you got there. Do you plan on using to help you get around till you can walk normal again?

The first one is a combination of GoPro and D7000 footage. The first few shots were GoPro, the rest were with the bigger camera.

The Nat Geo timelapse is stunning, I agree. A lot of it has to do with how the photographs were taken, and what post processing was done to them. Shooting in RAW format really helps expand the dynamic range of color you can get in a shot. All of the shots were real. The fast moving specs are satellites and airplanes.

Funny that you ask about the stick. I have been trying to get off the crutches this past week. Two days ago, I was just able to put my full weight on my foot for the first time in weeks. No pain, but felt super weird. Mind didn't trust that foot. Just a few minutes ago, with the help of my stick, I took some awkward steps. Now I can walk (sort of) without any additional support. Still have to be in the boot so I can't bend my ankle. That makes walking difficult. But the foot doesn't hurt, and I'm super happy.

wow ivan i love the winter time lapse you did. very cool!

i have seen that last one before. fucking amazing! it was created with over 10,000 photographs, no video! i can't imagine the time it took to process all those raw images. i'm also amazed at how he kept the white balance the same throughout. very impressive!

my brother and i have been interested in time lapse photography lately. here is a photographer from my home state of wyoming. his stuff is really good as well.

oh and kenny's lens... we call those blb's (big lens boys). we were in yellowstone and came up on some grizzlies. i got out of the car with my canon 30d and my tiny 17-55 lens. i was taking shots and this guy came up next to me with that 800mm lens. mine looked miniscule compared to that. i quickly put my camera away and marveled at the size of his. :D

NO MORE CRUTCHES!

Going up stairs is no-longer more terrifying than standing at the edge of a 1000 foot tall rock chasm. Granted, my left leg is a complete mess muscle wise, and everything but the tendon hurts a bit, but that doesn't bother me. Have PT on Wednesday. Miss not being at Worlds. What's new.

This is super cool. Thanks a bunch to Ken and Nick for organizing and everyone else who filmed and contributed. Seriously one of the nicest things people have done for me.

On a side note, I'm glad someone is playing with a 92 panel bag.
