I used to play a LOT of magic the gathering, used win a tons of tournaments on the east coast, then I became a judge and ran weekly tourneys at a comic book store. I've like dthe microprose game the other day.

I used to be really into it with my dad a while ago, and hes finished top 16 on gp qualifiers and ive finished 8th in junior super series type II in the urza's saga block. But we slowly got out of it because it just got too expensive, and tourneys are waaaay funner then just house play. So i dont play anymore

and jon, whats wrong with rpg's?

Also, you can find a demo of the micropose game around somewhere... The demo is about 15 megs, and to get it off kazaa, you get the 40-some odd meg file... It's a compilation of about 34 rar files... But if you find it, it's so worth it...

i never played magic cards but i might want to play the video game version of it. I cant really play magic cards cause no one i know would ever play them but i do get addicted to RPG videogames. I started playing final fantasy tactics advance on gameboy and when i first started it i thought it was the stupidest game i ever saw and than i got into it and have played it for about 40 hours!

yeh i wasted several years and alot of money i imagine on Magic cards, but i finally kicked the habit. imagine if id been shredding then instead...
i also played star wars CCG too, i still have Darth Vader, it was the rarest card in the game back in the day

i got that PC game too, its not bad but pretty hard, i kinda got it for some nostalgia. when i realised how long it would take to build a deck that could start beating these computerised players, i gave up lol

I also heard at some point (dont quote me on this it might be wrong) that Lon Smith plays (or at least sells) Magic cards too. is he a nerd then Jon?

I use to be into playing hardcore back in the day. I remember WOTC hosting the world tourney at my local mall (Great Mall of the bay area). I do still have my copy of micropose game..i know its somewhere in my room/ Its black and has the fire mana symbol right?

i found the demo and crap but i don't really like the how its only offline. There is another non-affiliated with wotc program called apprentice. You can make whatever deck you want using whatever cards and play online. And the great thing is it's just like playing the actual cards cause u have to subtract ur life manually can go through all the steps and declare attackers and crap. With micropose, the game feels like it goes alot slower and its a bit annoying.

I remember apprentice. That never bugged me, because I never had anyone to play. I've had lots of fun with the micropose version.

Apprentice, I saw, was more of a deck tester than anything, as was Magic suitcase. This game actually provides real time decision making. Not to mention you can build a deck with 4 black loti, 4 moxen, and huge old spells.

Granted, it's slower, but it was also made for Win 95. For it being made back then, I still think It's a good thing.. I 'm just wondering if there is a way to hack it so you can get more cards in it.

Yeah apprentice as a passtime game sucked, you could make whatever damn deck you wanted! Shit... you could make a deck that was worth $1000 in a matter of seconds, it was stupid I think... cuz you would play a friend or something and he would analy rape you because he has better card knowledge about cards that he will never even see in his lifetime.

I never played any of the PC Magic games but I still have some cards from way back. I heard Magic: Battle grounds for xbox is pretty good. But that was from a bunch of middle aged gamers

Anyone here ever played it?

BTW, I got no beef with middle aged gamers. I just find that their view on games is alot different from most younger people like myself.

Battlegrounds is good from what i hear from my friends. Your a mage thats wonders around and u have to collect crystals for mana. Then you can cast spells. You have no library, you just get a hand of i think 10 cards that you can cast over and over again. You can even hit your opponent with ur staff.
