I'm pretty sure Jer Mirken has hit a peeking mirage, or something of the sort, and has it on video.

tsia... and I agree completely on sonic and peeking, except I think the term for sonic is: jiro> jiro> FAR component, not nesisarily paradox.

I will be putting out video of some sonic/ peeking moves that fit MY definition and contrast them with wicked's view and we can decide witch should remain...

great analogy on the barroque doesn't equal barraging torque!

I see now what you mean by peeking. Chad was wrong then
I was not wrong. I referred to your trick as peeking osis, which is what Richie referred to it as when he invented it. Also, you did not do the clipper after, but rather, DURING the spin back. Thats osis. For me, gyro osis and peeking osis are the same.

At least read the first part

1) Gyro is not the same as Peeking

I only did the "gyro = peeking" moves to better try and illustrate them.

Gyro moves necessitate not planting the set foot and then performing a dex with the set foot after the spinning motion. Peeking moves don't have a dex at all and have no established boundries in regard to planting.
Any time you end up putting a dex into a peeking move it pretty much becomes gyro.

2) Now here's another confusing mess that can be cleared up.
A couple of years ago there was a huge Gyro vs. Spinning debate on the e-mail list. That's when Kenny's original intention, for not planting on a gyro move, came to light.
Basically it went like this... If you set for a gyro butterfly but planted your set foot, it became a spinning butterfly. Same thing for Mobius; if you planted the set foot after the set and then did the spinning motion and the dex... it became a Spinning Torque. Furthermore, there is no such thing as a Gyro Symposium Torque (Big Apple)... technically it is a Spinning Symposium Torque.

So here's a proposal...
Instead of having two types of Spinning as well as Gyro AND Peeking.
Why not adopt peeking to include all the moves that would have otherwise been categorized as the clip set (plant) > back spin > same dex > whatever
This is how peeking would change... Peeking would necessitate planting the set foot before the spinning motion and could or could not include a dex.
Peeking butterfly = clip (plant) > back spin > same out > op clip
Gyro butterfly = clip (no plant) > back spin > same out > op clip

Now technically I don't believe these moves are unique, however some people prefer a way of distinguishing between these types of moves for mental health reasons  .

Anyone like that idea... I'm not glued to it, it just popped into my head when I started my reply.

See that's what I'm trying to tell you though... there is no such move as Gyro Osis because a Gyro move necessitates a dex.

Tsiangkun's identity is available through PMing.

So when I see lon doing gyro clippers, he is really doing osis because gyro necessitates a dex ?

I think peeking should be forgotten as a set name, peeking osis is the name of a trick, that would have been gyro osis if the definition of gyro wasn't sooo . #!...!!!

No he's really doing Peeking Clippers

Yeah I would much rather see the definition of Gyro change so that Peeking could just be done away with, but I'm willing to go with Kenny's definition for a while longer. I think that right now there is too much oposition from older competitors who dominate a lot of the sport. Give it another 5 years or so.

thanks for responding BIGadd.

I was under a different impression when I started this post and I now know the original intent of peeking.

OK so,
PEEKING= a backspin followed by a move with a backspin

but does:
Sonic= a backspin, another backspin, move with a backspin.
or does
Sonic=a backspin, another backspin, any componet

this is why I'm confused. I remember a while ago Wicked saying randi had hit sonic torque(with the settiing and catching foot the same). This however doesn't fit the top definition of sonic???

The reason I started this thread was because I was hitting these moves,
clip>backspin>backspin> ss butter
clip>backspin>backspin>far osis
With my new found understanding these moves are NEITHER peeking or sonic. Just simply double backspinning moves

First one with butterfly at end - peeking spinning butterfly.
2nd - I'm confused - Peeking Osis or Sonic Osis...

ok ptaku,

the last one would be peeking spinning osis.
the first one would be peeking spinning same side butter(NOT same out to in dex!!)

This way of naming it makes me HAPPY!!

I could even work on peeking gyro....hurray

I don't know why, but I think that Peeking Gyro isn't posible. If Gyro is plantless half backspinn ended with same leg dexterity then you must change feet to make plantless halfback spin. But the dexterity wouldn't bee done with setting leg...
That's confusing...

Say you start with a right foot clipper, then backspin and imidiately switch feet then spot the bag, with you're left foot in the air, then do a gyro mirage.

I think that would pass as a peeking gyro mirage.

Is there a name for backspin>backspin move?
If not Nate any ideas on a new easy term.

Yo Ricky,
I was hoping you'd get into this. I believe you and I have the potential to take this concept to new levels, or atleast you...

OK so this is how I'm gunna name stuff.
Peeking= clip>backspin>move with a backspin(including spinning moves)
so peeking dyno= clip>backspin> same SIDE dyno
peeking spinning pdx whirl= clip>backspin>backspin>op SIDE whirl
peeking gyro dlo= clip>backspin>backspin(no plant)>same SIDE dlo
In other words take away the first back spin and name the move normaly.
I believe gyro is possible with peeking IF you have you're dexing leg in the air when you spot the bag the first time.
NOTE: there is no such thing as peeking whirl or peeking drifter but there is such thing as peeking spinning whirl and peeking vortex

Sonic is the same but with another backspin
so sonic dyno=clip>backspin>backspin>dyno
sonic spinning pdx whirl= clip>backspin>backspin>backspin> op SIDE whirl

OK so this is where the future (as far as I know) lies.

in peeking osis= clip>inspin>same SIDE osis
in peeking spinning butterfly= clip>inspin>backspin> op SIDE butterfly

insonic osis=clip>inspin>backspin>osis

sonic peeking osis!=clip>backspin>backspin>backspin>osis
the first 2 backspins are sonic, the third backspin is peeking and its made official with the osis

I realize this stuff is very confusing but I think I got this stuff figured out and I swear I'll put out some video of these moves as soon as James gets some free time. 2 weeks tops
