Dirty
Dirty
I've realised that there are lots of different ways of making tricks look bad.
You can "the" dexes.
You can slur dexes.
You can do semi frigid osis sets instead of properly spinning (releasing the bag half way into the spin)
You can spin on moves when you shouldn't (dlo and symp mirage)
You can drag osis' - stall before you have the foot in a crossbody position and not spinning enough.
You can "duck" when the bag is well over head height.
The bag can hit you in the middle of a move when you don't want it to.
It gets confusing trying to know what you should call all these things. For example is a dlo where you spin slurry? the? does it have another name? I can't be bothered with all the different names. If something doesn't look clean I'm going to call it dirty - just thought I'd let people know so if you notice me calling moves that, you'll know what I mean.

yep, but I always thought "the" IS "dirty" ?!
You aren't just able to "the" dexes, a "the" dex is a "thin" dex.
I know (like "thin") there are too many names (remember this tor-idea),
but I always thought dirty movements are generally called "the"

what is it called when you do a "sunil" kind of dex e.g.when you put your toe outwards before you catch the bag??Is it still counted as a full dex?because its kind of like the bag is dexing for you and just falling into the dex instead of actually bringing your foot around the bag.

I disagree. That's like saying that a the parradon is a butterfly (and acceptable).
When you spin on a dlo or a symp mirage or a xbody rake, it looks ugly and it isn't clean. That's why I'm calling it dirty.
It's good that x body rake was brought up. Cross Body Rake is a rake where the stall is in the cross body position. When you spin on the move it means that you are stalling behind you, not cross body at all. So it isn't clean - it's dirty.
I think there is nothing wrong with Sunil's eggbeater dexes. They are clean as far as I'm concerned. There is a difference between style/technique and not doing a move properly.

The problem is all of the things Jeremy has listed have a different OFFENSE value. personaly seeing a the paradon offends me more than a pulled osis, but I generaly don't call things the untill I know the player and their style better.
Its kind of rude to step into a circle and start calling things "dirty" and even calling something the can offend someone if you're not careful.
I use the term THIN alot, dirty sounds pretty personal to me. Either way... people should know they can do something better, or cleaner, but advise is always better than critisism.

If I'm going to call people on something, I'll just identify it specifically. Instead of saying that was a 'dirty' duck, I'll just say that it was too high, or the if it didn't pass over the head/neck area. Or if someone is symp. miraging and actually raking it, I'll just say that. I have no problem with not having a word for this problem, although I see what you're saying, there are a crapload of ways you can mess up moves. 'Bad/poor form' seems like a good phrase for problems a lot of the time, because you can apply it to a move which is technically fine but just has poor style (stepping on a pdx mirage or infinity), as well as technically bad things (like a slurred stepping set).
Also I don't think there is anything wrong with Sunil's style in legovers. Here we call that technique 'the Sunil legover' and it just makes it a bit easier on yourself. It generally leads to a better tighter dex, even if the dex is 'smaller', if y'know what I mean. Whether or not it looks good is another issue.

I personally think there are so many different footbag related words that it is hard to keep them all straight. The more people you end up shredding with, the more terms you hear. Nate and I either say 'The' or 'thin', or "that wasn't clean." But they all mean the same thing. It just brings to the attention of the other person that the move could have been executed better. I would use these terms sparingly though when you are not in a training session. There is nothing worse than shredding in public with a bunch of spectators watching and having your partner shout out that one of your moves was unclean. Its all about the fun on those days... Training days are when the biznass gets done.

Maybe just 'unclean' 'not clean'? And then say when was move unclean and what part of a move was unclean. That would be simple. I don't see any reason to complicate it.
