I swear this happens every year when I go to Worlds -- but this year it seems even worse. I'm on my way home from Montreal, and landed in Atlanta for an hour, and discovered that footbag.org is completely dead. I went and looked (via ssh) and the hard drive seems to have had a failure. I did a file system check and rebuilt the drive (it's supposed to be a journalling filesystem but maybe Linux has bugs in that stuff) and it's completely hosed.
The good news is that I have backups (of course -- I wouldn't be a good webmaster if I didn't) as of 8:24am this morning so once I do get it back up, I don't believe any data will be lost. However, it could take 24 hours to restore it because if the hard drive is really hosed and not reformattable then I'll have to go buy a new one (argh).
I hate my life.
Anyway -- very important point -- my e-mail is obviously also down. So please don't e-mail me at footbag.org until it comes back up (in fact, all people whose addresses end in @footbag.org or @worldfootbag.com or other domains I host will be held until the site comes back up). Instead, if you need to reach me personally, please write my Google account at [email protected]
Thanks.
