you use crispy to denote a move wher a dex is done a set, and original when it is done downtime. A move done crispy has the same jobs description as that same move done original, just the " >> " in the description changes place.
I think it originated from torque. Torque is an all down time move but you can do stepping far osis which is a crispy torque, here are the jobs for clip set torque:

original torque : clip >> op in > back spin > op clip
crispy torque : clip > op in >> back spin > op clip

moves with two dexes can be crispy in different ways, take for example clip set dlo:
original dlo : clip >> op in > op out > same toe
crispy dlo : clip > op in >> op out > same toe
crispy dlo (2) : clip > op in > op out >> same toe

so the first one is original the second is stepping far legover and the third is shooting ss toe.

anyway, original = downtime is how I think of this concept.

An easier way of saying it, the first dex is pretty much a stepping set.

yeah but the same goes for atomics, quantums, nuclears...

just a thought: does anyone here refer to tapdown as a crispy paradon?

tapdown is atomic same side butterfly
crispy paradon is a paradon with uptime
muted tapdown is tapdown without a plant

muted tapdown is not anywhere near a paradon.

hmm.

I would say that tapdown is a crispy paradon and that muted tapdown is a crispy muted paradon. Paradon is an original tapdown etc.

The thing about footbag is that you can do different moves with the same jobs notation - so crispy and original are attempts to say that a particular move has the same jobs as another move, but is done differently. These days I think it doesn't really work - or at least there needs to be more terms. For example which is the original and which is the crispy with shooting ss butterfly vs blurriest. Both have crispy elements - ie an uptime and downtime component, but both have original elements as well - shooting set and the double down set. I guess you can use the word original to mean - the original way the move was hit, vs crispy which is a different way of hitting it.

So original blurriest is a normal blurriest, crispy blurriest is a different version - most likely shooting ss butterfly (there are other possibilities - most notable would be blazing barfly) and original shooting ss butterfly is just that, while a crispy shooting ss butterfly is probably a blurriest.

edit: Using this theory a crispy stepping opside clipper would be a downtime drifter - so if we are to attempt some kind internal logic it could make things a little confusing to begin with - at least until everybody had about the same understanding of the concept.

nope. You can do crispy torques and crispy drifter without planting (muted stepping ss clipper/ os osis).
Always remember, that the difference is in the concepts miraging/stepping, not in any planting issues. The explanation regarding downtime and uptime aspects is the most exact.
