That would be correct Matt. Up until last week I was playing with unmodded Lavers for, I would say, 13 months. I was so afraid that I would turn my only pair of Lavers into garbage that I just didn't want to go near them with a knife.

Thankfully I got over that

So here I am on a Monday evening feeling the effects of +4.5 hours of shred and still wanting more. Woe is me.

I had two sessions today. The first was about 1.5 hours and didn't involve very much. I ended the session with Whirlwind on bs and that was about it.

My next session, however, was the bag with all the goodies in it. I started out working my DATW, which lead to me hitting Toe Barrage, Terrage and Gyro Barrage on my weakside. Soon after, I had Pixie Barrage on both sides. My Barrages were kicking ass, so I went for Nuetron Smasher and had it off my damn foot. Off my damn foot! Then I got sidetracked and, because my atomics were doing so well, hit Alpine Legbeater on bs and was so close to hitting Skull Smasher on bs afterwards! Arg!!!

But that wasn't all... I think. Ok, I know what I'm doing. After that, I decided to take it a bit easy but then remember how everyone was hitting Flurry these days so I was like "Well what the hell". I didn't come close. I tried a downtime Flurry. Still didn't come close. I then decided that Barraging sets suck, and went on to trying some Quantum tricks. I hit Tripwalk on bs, and footed Toe Blur on bs (I didn't put much effort after a few attempts).

That's when it struck me.

I thought back to the Worlds 04 Prequal vid I watched prior to kicking. More precisely, I thought back to the way Vasek does his Barraging sets. "It's like a Whirling stepping motion... or perhaps more like a Whirling Quantum motion...". I did a few motions with my leg and thought what the hell. I tried with the bag. I kicked the bag on the second dex, but holy fuck! It seemed do able! I tried again, and again and again. Each time I kept hitting the bag with the second dex but each time I kept getting closer and closer to actually performing the set itself. I whip out my camera and start filming. After 20 attempts, I hit Janiwalker and it felt awesome. I dedicated the last hour of my session to nothing but Janiwalker... attempts. And while my attempt/hit ratio was horried (About 50 attempts and only around 5 successful), I did manage to hit it for my father in 4 attempts. Fucking awesome!

And so that's my shred day. The rest of my day/evening consisted of homework - Physics and Math. Woop de doo. Normaly I like both but that's when I have people around me to help/talk to while doing the problems. Ah well.

EDIT - Wow, there's an edit button here now? :?

Yeah totally!

Just one thing - neutron smasher is atomic gyro mirage. S and M smasher is atomic barrage - not sure if you knew that because you said: My Barrages were kicking ass, so I went for Nuetron Smasher and had it off my damn foot.

Anyway props on Janiwalker and all the barraging! Also great to know that you've finally modded your lavers!

Thanks for the correction Jeremy. I guess I really did mean S & M Smasher

Thanks Tom for your compliments! Keep your blog happening too man! I wan tto know more about your stages of puberty

So I kicked for about 45 minutes tonite. I was so sore. Holy moly was I ever sore. All I did was pretty much kick, do a few tiltless strings and smashed my consec clipper record :D

75 on my right side, 74 on my left.

Holy hell were my legs burning. Holy hell!

Alls i can say is that S and M smasher are frickin hard. Even if you get the atomic around, there is still the completely downtime barrage. You can do it though :)

Nice consec clippers too...i don't even think i could pull of 10 on my flipside. Shows how crappy my flipside is :(

They are hard indeed, but with a bit more Barrage practice I feel that it is do able :)

I'm pretty tired right now, so this won't be a long post. I kicked for about 2.5 hours, which was way more than I had expected. Nonetheless, I was happy with it.

A quick summary of what all went down:

I hit Motion set from ss toe, op toe and same clip on both sides. That was sweet. I went for Locomotion, and it is do able. Just some timing issues and perhaps a bit more work on clip same Motion.

I hit Janiwalker again, and I felt like my barraging sets were doing really well (once I got into my flow). They are still low, but height will come after I know precisely how/where/when to move my leg. Also, I worked on weakside barraging. By the end of the session, I hit a few really good sets (one or two were better than most of my strongside ones 8O ). I'm still getting comfortable with them on that side, but they are definitely coming along. Symp Whirls and quantum sets are the key components (imo) to work on to help improve barraging.

And in-between all of that, I worked on DATW again (I'm starting to think I will incorporate them into every session), as well as more quantum sets. While quantum is still a bit inconsistant, I feel I've progressed a good deal with that set.

And a side note, I had a few Symp Blazing sets. Will try to do something out of them shortly.

There is a few really good things that I'm excited about (me joining IFPA for my bday and a new shredita that I have inspired :D ) but I will get more into that later :)

EDIT - Ah yes, before I forget. I deem Anssi my both-sidedness arch rival. That guy, it seems, doesn't even have a weakside. Symp Torque bs in one session and Janiwalker bs in one session. How the hell does he do it? 8O

Bleh, colds suck :(

I kicked tonite, but for only an hour. I went over DATWs, Eggbeaters, DLOs, Drifters and pixie sets. I didn't hit anything worth talking about, except for a new trick - toe set Dobule Pick-Up on bs. The DATW practice is paying off :)

But yes, having colds really seems to put the hamper on the ole shredding. I got tired pretty quickly and I also developed a pain in my left calf. It hurts to stand on my left leg and bend at the knee, lowering my body with the one leg. It hurts below my knee, along my calf and along my shin. I don't know what it could be but I'm going to take tomorrow off (and perhaps Saturday and Sunday - depends on how my cold progresses and my leg feels obviously).

So that's my scenero. Now to go into further detail about what I brought up last nite...

I'll be joinning the IFPA (Yay!) for my birthday, which is on SEPTEMBER 30th, not that I expect anyone to remember that my birthday is in 13 DAYS!!and I'm turning SWEET 18. Along with that I'll be doing a bit of bar hopping, making it a bday to remember  .

And also, I may have gotten a very wonderful woman interested in footbag. She said that she loved watching the videos I send her (tricks and the two videos of when Cornad was here). She is going to be looking up the sites and links I gave her, as well as gave some advice as to what bags would be best as well as the shoes. I hope she doesn't get discouraged, as I know how hard it is to start out without having anybody to really guide you in person. I'll try the best I can though :)

I had my first session since Thursday to give my left leg some rest. I irritated the tendon right below my knee (the name eludes me right now), which was probably from learning how to do barraging sets on that side. It feels a lot better now.

I kicked for about 3 or 3.5 hours. Started it out decently, working the DATW some more. The main problem I have is the set - it seems like I set it too far out in front of me, and set it too low for some reason. It's weird, because it's like that for only two tricks - DATW and Terrage. I really have to concentrate to set it appropriately. Nonetheless, they are getting easier as the days progress so that's good.

After some DATW drills I hit Terrage > Terrage on bs. After that, I also FINALLY hit Double Switch on bs. That trick has been eluding me for so long, I thought I could never hit it (almost like Eggbeater  ).

I can't really remember what I did after that, I know I went over Torques and they felt solid. I could hold the delay at the end pretty well, which was awesome. After that, I worked on Pdx Torques. They felt pretty strong as well. Sometime in the near future I'm hoping to hit it back to back, but we'll see.

This may have been before I went over Torques, but I grasped the nuke set now. I could do it a few months ago on my one side, but for some reason I could never do it again. Today I found the problem - I would always start the dex too early which resulted in the bag hitting my support leg. Very annoying, but I learnt to set the bag then hop to the side + dex the bag. The twist in the hips is key to the nuke set as well - something Derek V. pointed out to me a long time ago. I only hit Matador, but with some time Sumo will come.

And that's about it. I hit Blurrage in the remainings minutes of my session but due to fatique I think they were 'the'. Actually, one of them was and I'm not to sure about the other sides. It may have been, but it is also my stronger Barrage so who knows?

Anyways, that's my day. My legs feel alright right now. Tomorrow is a holiday, so another session for me :D . I think I'm going to go over spinning, stepping, pixie sets (a tiny bit - they hurt my calves if I do too many of them :( ) DLOs, Drifters and Eggbeaters. Should be good. I want to go for some toe guilttless strings soon :)

EDIT - I use "anyways" too much :?
EDIt 2 - Only 10 more days to my birthday :D:D:D:D

On Monday evening I did more mods on my Lavers. After seeing Jeremy's pair of dead sexy Lavers my mouth literally dropped. Astounded! Then I got the courage to whip out my dad's ole hunting knife and I sliced the two eyelits out on both sides of the tonque. I then put hot glue on the ends to keep the threads from fraying. So far it's working like a charm. Now they are dead sexy Lavers 8)

I kicked for roughly 2 hours tonite, staritng at roughly 9 and ending just before 11. I drilled Drifters, DLOs and Eggbeaters the entire time. My left leg seems to have a lot better technique in comparison to my right, allowing me to hit Pdx Drifter > Pdx Drifter (first attempt 8O ) on that side, as well as coming real close to hitting Vortex > Vortex. My right leg doesn't seem to want to cushion the bag as much, making the set out of it uncontrolled. I think it's mostly a timing issue with a tiny bit of over-exaggeration of the dex.

I came up with a drill that I was trying to hit all through out the evening. It is - Drifter > DLO > Eggbeater > DLO rpt.

I hit it 3/4 of the way through on one side, but had so much trouble sticking the Eggbeater on the other (which I only did twice, then commenced to fumble on the DLO :( ). Hopefully I will be able to hit it semi-consistantly by October.

Weakside Spinning Pdx Eggbeater is really close. I mostly play in the evening, in an unevenly lit porch. Everytime I spun and started the dex it would be dark (because of my shadow) and I'd lose sight of the footbag, making it really difficult to assume where to dex. Still, I had some really close attempts. I will try again during the day whenever I get the chance.

Awesome - I want to see a photo!!

Did you find them easier to kick in? I've been trying to repair mine a little lately so they don't fall apart completely until at least next month :P - I have a new pair, but the old ones are so much better to kick in!

Alright, here is a pic of my Lavers: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v475/ ... avers1.jpg

And here is a close up:

It's hard to tell, but you can see the glue along the parts where I cut the eyelits to keep it from fraying.

I find that you need to do more of a delay without the walls on the toe box. However, to compensate for that you can do hella fast pixie sets and it allows for more of an area for the bag to land on.

What colour is your new pair of Lavers Jeremy? I think my second pair will be white/blue (or navy) to match my shorts :)

Not much to report. I haven't kicked since that last session, but I'm hoping to have a really good one today. We'll see how that goes. I also got different laces for my shoes. Instead of my black they are now white, to match my shorts. They are pretty bright in comparison to the white on the shoes, so they stand out pretty well.

In the meantime, I'll show you some Super Punch Out records of mine. That game totally kicks so much ass. The furthest I've been so far is the 2nd match in the World Cup.

Here is a Minor Circuit record: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v475/ ... ircuit.jpg

And here is my record for beating Gabby Jay:

This is going to be a long post :P

What a good session today. I started at roughly 2:30 and ended just before 7 - 4.5 hours. That's incredible, I don't know if I have ever had a single solo session for that long. It must be all the water I'm drinking (2 litres a day).

As I warmed up, I hit a new record for that guilttless drill I do. 28 contacts and that was the very first attempt. Woop woop!

I started it off working pixie sets. That went surprisingly well. I was able to hit a few good pixie combos (Smear > PLO > rpt and Magellan > PLO > rpt). I probably worked them for about 30 - 45 minutes, and decided to stop due to pains in my left shin. It went away later on as the session progressed.

Next I went over Drifters. Not too much to report on them, I managed to hit 5 consec and that's about it. I did a breif overview of DLOs and Eggbeaters. They felt good, though the Eggbeaters sucked a hell of a lot of energy out of my quads. Perhaps I'm a tad out of shape.

I moved on to spinning since it is easier (not so energy consuming). I hit Spin Clip > Gyro Clip x 3. My Gyro Clippers are really bad, so I was happy with this. After some time doing this drill, I somehow made the transition to Spinning Pdx Blenders. After a few attempts, I realized how to hit them more consistantly. I tried for Gangsta Party and had it just off my foot! Arg! I didn't spend too much time with it, and afterwards moved on to normal Blenders.

Next, I decided to do some nuke sets. They were really good - a hell of a lot better than they were before. Aside from hitting Matador, I also hit Sumo and Nuke Osis on both sides. I tried nuke inspinning and had Twinspinning Mirage off my foot. Realizing what I was doing, I decided to hit Inspinning Mirage before going any further with twinspinning. It didn't take long on my stronger side, but it took me a while to learn the ideal height on the other.

Finally, to wrap my session up I went over barraging. I was thrilled to know that it was still there. I hit Janiwalker after a few attempts then went for Sunilwalker. I had it off my foot a dozen times before, without thinking about it, I hit a Barraging ss Butterfly with no plant inbetween the dexes - Muted Sunilwalker. That really caught me off guard and I was all 8O "Wow, that was a Muted Sunilwalker". I hit Sunilwalker shortly after.

Now, I also decided to go over barraging sets with my left leg even though I didn't expect anything from it. Actually, I was getting frustrated with it. My leg just didn't want to co-operate.

"Fuck," I said. "What the hell is your[my left leg] problem!? You can't move fast enough!"

Ding ding ding!!

If it wasn't going to move fast enough, then I was going to make it. And that's exactly what I did. My poor leg. Now, you must be thinking that that sounds pretty dumb - Why didn't I just move my leg faster before? Well, it's hard to explain. I was really trying to put emphasis with technique, making my leg do a whirling quantum motion (really trying to stress the quantum). Unfortunately, my leg would be just a bit too slow and would always kick the bag on the second dex. So, I just decided to swing my leg in the general motion, disregarding if it was done properly (I later took my camera to see if I was 'the'ing the dexes. Nope, all good). That's where it took off.

I had weakside Janiwalker off my foot so many times after that moment. Finally about 30 - 40 attempts later I hit Janiwalker! I screamed in celebration, did a funky dance, and gave myself a pat on the back. I then hit it on the next attempt right afterwards. AWESOME.

I warmed down by doing 85 consec kicks.

And that was my session today. I'm so glad to have finally got a barraging set with my left leg. I would've gone for Sunilwalker on that side, but after all that work I was just too tired. Oh well. I was glad with what I accomplished anyways :)

I thought I'd just drop by and leave a line in here.

Since that session, I've been taking it a bit easier on my legs. My left leg is in a bit of pain from that one day, and I want it to be completely 100% ready to bust hardcore for when I meet up with the Edmonton crew. I don't know when that will be, if not this weekend then the next. Either way, I think I'll just take it easy.

In any event, tha hasn't stopped me entirely. I find Rev. Swirls to be a hell of a lot easier then their companions and today I was hitting Twirl pretty consistantly. I even hit it midstring while doing a solid tiltless run for people to watch. I also had Symp Twirl off my foot, but I'm not sure how clean it is. The motions felt like I was doing a (downtime) Symp Rev. Swirling Refraction but I guess that is what cameras are for. I'll check it out next time I have a session.

Howdy!

It's been a while, that's for sure. A lot has happened since the last post in here - a lot of visiting of friends, Thursday was my bday and that evening I drank and drank and drank. I'll write a list at the end. The rest of the weekend I've been packing and moving to our new place down by Onoway (which reminds me - I should get that info updated).

With all the hustle and bustle I haven't been able to kick all that much. I had a few hour long kicks every so often but that's about it. My leg seems to be doing fine so long as I get a real good warm up. Otherwise, there is pain :(

I guess the only noteworthy thing to mention is about the session I had a few days ago on Saturday nite. I basically went over Osis, Ducking Clippers, some spinning then finished it off with Rev. Swirls. Unfortunately, the space I have to shred isn't a lot (which is in the basement) because of all the boxes stored down here. On top of that, the lighting is hideous. Hopefully once we get settled down that will be the first thing to reconfigure. The next thing will be where my shred spot will be and what I will use to shred on. I'm thinking carpet or a rubber matty surface - something that is hard, grippy but absorbs shock. I'll have to go see what I can find I guess.

But yeah, I'm hoping to meet up with the Edmonton crew this weekend. It's a 4 day weekend for me, so holy shit - that's a lot of shredding. Now if only I had a good video-recording device because daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn. I know everyone will be busting nice. I hope I will be able to make it to the city, if I'm not allowed to drive then I'll ask if I can just be dropped off and picked up some 100 hours later. At the pace we are gong at, we should be (or very close to) completely unpacked and moved in. But we'll see, we'll see.

Anyways, that's my situation nowadays. I'm hoping to have a good kick tonite. Perhaps I'll do some strings... yeah, fo rsome reason I don't feel like drilling too much. I want to hit Rev. Swirls mid string (a mid string Rev. Swirl kinda mood is what I'm in). I'll have to go over a few things so I can bust this weekend but we'll see. Maybe I'll go over a lot of things quickly then do strings afterwards. Who knows. I know I don't. Hell, I'll probably just drill Rev. Swirls the entire evening again. . Anyways, I'll write up after I have the session.

And now, here is the list taken by my sister of all I had to drink on my 18th birthday. Enjoy!

2 Screwdrivers
3 Muffdivers (whiskey + 2 cherry whiskey)
Bottle of Kokanee
2 Vodka Slimes
Gladiator
Alabama Slammer
649
Cherry Whiskey shot
2 Peach schnaps shots
China White shot
Sour Puss shot
Blur shit (not sure the name) shot
Purple rain
Lemon Heart shot
Long island Iced Tea
Mini Jug (triple shot of rye + coke)
Bottle cap shot
2 Tequila shots
Vodka shot

And surprisingly, I was totally good up until 45 minutes after I took the last drinks when I layed down on the couch. Fillet Mino everywhere
